Barcelona could have been home to the Eiffel Tower! That’s right if everything had gone according to Gustave Eiffel’s initial plan, Paris’ most famous landmark would now be in Barcelona. Unfortunately, Spain rejected the architect’s project, deciding that it was too “radical” and did not fit the city’s aesthetics.

In particular, Parc de la Ciutadella features everything you could ask for – fountains, a boating lake, museums, play areas, gardens, huge expanses of grass and Zoo de Barcelona. Hop aboard the city’s cable cars and mountain trains Travel up the famous Montjuic and Tibidabo hills and be rewarded with spectacular city and coastal views. Both children and adults enjoy the novelty of travelling by the 2 cable cars and 3 mountain trains (funiculars) which are on offer. Montjuic is also home to several Olympic venues including the stadium, swimming pool and diving pool; and at the top of Tibidabo, you will find the old-fashioned Ferris wheel and funfair.
