Snap Shot of Krabi

Thailand truly has something for everyone and is just a short 6-hour flight from the UAE. On this occasion our adventure took us to the vibrant coastal town of Ao Nang and the picturesque island of Ko Lanta.

To reach Ko Lanta, we booked a private minivan from Krabi town. The scenic drive took us approximately 3 hours, and we had the fun experience of boarding a ferry with our minivan, which delighted the kids. Arriving on the island, our accommodation was a stunning duplex private apartment just a stone's throw away from the beach. Visiting during the Spring/Easter break meant that we had the privilege of enjoying the pristine beaches with fewer crowds, adding to the tropical paradise ambience of the island. We decided to rent a small car for a couple of days to explore the island's hidden beaches and venture into the charming Koh Lanta Old Town.

Koh Lanta Old Town, located on the eastern side of the island, provided us with a glimpse into the traditional way of life. Its narrow streets were adorned with well-preserved wooden houses on stilts, boasting vibrant colours and intricate designs. The waterfront was adorned with traditional longtail boats, and we indulged in dining on a veranda with a picturesque sea view. The local shops sell handmade crafts, unique souvenirs, and traditional Thai textiles, making it the perfect place to find keepsakes or t-shirts with local beer logos!

Leaving the peaceful serenity of Koh Lanta behind, we returned to the mainland by private minivan, heading back to Ao Nang. The contrast between the two destinations was striking. Ao Nang greeted us with bustling main streets lined with a vibrant array of shops, restaurants, and bars. Despite the lively atmosphere, we managed to find a quieter place to stay, allowing us to retreat from the excitement when needed.

One of our most cherished evenings in Ao Nang was spent exploring the beach during low tide. As the water receded, a world of marine life was revealed, with crabs scurrying across the wet, sandy shore, creating a fascinating sight against the backdrop of an incredible sunset.

Ao Nang Beach and Noppharat Thara Beach are nestled in by towering limestone rock formations. These majestic cliffs not only provide a breathtaking backdrop but also attract rock-climbing enthusiasts from all over the world. We couldn't resist the allure and decided to embark on a rock climbing adventure. When it comes to booking your rock climbing adventure in Krabi, there are several online agencies available that can assist you in planning your experience. Many of these agencies offer guided trips to the iconic Railey Beach. After getting kitted out early in the morning, we hopped on a boat to Railey to start our ascent. The views from the cliffs were simply mesmerizing, rewarding us with a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape. No trip to Thailand would be complete without mentioning the exquisite cuisine, and Krabi is no exception. The culinary offerings in Krabi offer everything you would expect. A mouthwatering array of seafood delicacies, tangy salads, heaps of noodles, yummy street food, spicy hot soups and aromatic curries. Thailand is a go-to destination, catering for adventure or relaxation, and to suit every budget.
