Pristine white sands, shallow lagoons perfect for splashing in and incredible snorkelling and diving all await, as do brilliant kids’ clubs that mean children and teens can enjoy their own tropical adventures while you take some time out and enjoy the sun or the spa. We’ve looked at the Maldives’ best resorts for families with different ages of kids.
LUX* South Ari Atoll
Kids’ clubs: ages 3 –12 years and 12– 17 years
On picture-perfect island Dhidhoofinolhu, this award-winning resort is the very essence of laid-back luxury, with sea-facing Beach Pavilions and Villas perfect for families whether travelling with tots or teens or something in-between. Some have a private pool. Meanwhile, the kids’ and teens’ clubs keep them busy with tennis and scuba lessons, banana-boat rides, sorties in search of marine life, local dance and language lessons and adventure trips.
OZEN By Atmosphere at Maadhoo Island
Kids’ club: ages 4–14 years
A 45-minute speedboat ride from Malé, this all-inclusive contemporary resort includes beachfront Earth Family Suites with private pools and shared butler service among its luxury accommodation. The OZEN Kids Club involves children and early teens in exploration, sports and other activities, while there’s also complimentary non-motorised watersports, sunset fishing and one Adventure excursion per day.
Kids’ club: ages 4–11 years
A private-island setting in the North Ari Atoll makes this gorgeous resort a castaways’ paradise. Family Beach Villas with their own plunge pools house those with kids in style, while the Constance Kids’ Club with its own pool keeps younger guests well entertained with the likes of cookery classes, crab-hunting and races, and sand-mosaic making.
Six Senses Laamu
Kids’ club: ages 3–11 years.
The only resort in the Laamu Atoll combines its remote feel with easy accessiblity from Malé by sea-plane and boat. This sumptuous property accommodates those with kids in its Family Beach Villas with pool, nestled amidst the lush vegetation and facing the sea, where dolphins frolic. Playtime at The Den includes beach play and treasure hunts, while proficient swimmers are taken snorkelling at the house reef. There are also complimentary on-site family activities including cycling, volleyball, yoga and movies under the stars.
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi
Kids’ club: ages 3-12 years
On a private 52-acre island close to the unspoilt islands of Noonu Atoll, this inviting property sleeps two adults and up to two children under 12 in all of its villas, which include overwater and beach options. There are also Family Deluxe Beach Villas with their own pool. There’s a dedicated family pool, family areas in several restaurants, family/kids’ spa treatments, the Komas Kidz Paradise children’s club with its own pool, and water sports including banana-boat rides, guided snorkelling and SUP paddle-boarding.

In the sparsely populated Lhaviyani Atoll a 30-minute sea-plane ride from Malé, this contemporary resort on a 2km lagoon includes Sunset Family Villas made up of two interconnecting Beach Villas. As well as being able to take part in the likes of sunset fishing, snorkelling and non-motorized water sports, junior guests are kept well entertained at the Kids’ Club with its nature walks, sand art, palm leaf origami and banana boat-rides. Teens and adults, meanwhile, enjoy daily activities including volleyball and mocktail-making lessons.
Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa
Kids’ club: ages 4–9 years
This barefoot paradise in the South Ari Atoll includes spacious, family-friendly overwater villas with a children’s sleeping area with bunk-beds and steps down to the lagoon (but secured access to the terrace for safety). Other amenities for families include a children’s pool, a kids’ club, the teen E-Zone with chill-out spaces and watersports, and complimentary excursions including snorkelling tours, whale-shark boat-trips, local island discovery and sunset fishing.
Kids’ club: ages 4–12 years
Currently the only resort on the Thaa Atoll in the Indian Ocean archipelago's southern reaches, this resort is best known for its Shambhala Retreat with its wellness offerings. But it also includes the Play by COMO kids’ club, where activities include crab-racing and sandcastle-building. The spacious Beach Suites are particularly popular for familes with young children, nestled in shady, private areas of the lush gardens and with direct beach access.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
Kids’ club: ages 3–12 years
Including family-friendly beach villas and water villas, this sleek option on Rangalifinolhu Island in the Alif Dhaal Atoll pleases parents with its overwater spa and its fitness and yoga classes. But it also delights children with its Majaa Kids’ Club, where they can expect marine adventures, sports and games, arts and crafts and culinary workshops. Children under three are welcome in the club with with a parent, guardian or babysitter.

Babysitting (complimentary for 2 hours a day up to age 2 years)
A kids club, kids’ pool, kids’ spa treatments and playground keep younger guests happy at this secluded resort within the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, while adults enjoy diving and other reef adventures, yoga, Pilates, cooking classes and pampering. All villas, whether on the beach, the lagoon or over the water, have private swimming pools.
