Sani Resort, Halkidiki
On the golden sands of Halkidiki, this famous resort comprises five properties (Sani Beach, Sani Club, Sani Dunes, Porto Sani and Sani Asterias), all within walking distance of one another and close to the resort’s own vibrant marina and vast array of restaurants and bars.
This is the perfect place to create family memories, with forests to explore, glorious beaches and a wealth of sports and activities. These include a Rafal Nadal tennis academy, a Chelsea FC football academy for kids, a Bear Grylls Survival Academy for families who love taking on a challenge together, a bike club, an adventure park and even bee-keeping expeditions. Guests are also encouraged to immerse themselves in the spectacular surrounding nature - not only on the beach but on more than 20km of trails through fragrant pine forests, to explore by bike or on foot. The only problem is how you’re going to fit it all in.
Named the World’s Leading Family & Beach Resort AND the World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort in the World Travel Awards 2020, Sani’s individual hotels also featured strongly in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2020, with Sani Beach named among the Top 25 Hotels in the World. Sani was also placed among the Top 30 European Resorts in Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2020.
Note that all the resort facilities and amenities are available to guests at any of the hotels. They include seven Blue Flag beaches with waiter service, five gorgeous spas and a fantastic Dine Around programme whereby half-board and full-board guests can choose from special menus at 22 of the resort restaurants, which include many Greek options as well as a Japanese katsu venue and an Italian eatery.
Sani Beach Hotel
Of the five hotels, Sani Beach is a firm favourite with parents for its seven categories of child-friendly accommodation, which are all very spacious and well designed with families in mind. Suites have separate rooms for kids and parents.
Right on the beach, this hotel has a sophisticated, top-end feel. As with the other hotels here, guests at Sani Beach can avail themselves of the outstanding childcare for which Sani Resort has made its name – a crèche for ages four months to four years, a Mini Club and a Teenagers Club, plus the Babewatch babysitting programme available on all the beaches so you can take a dip in the sea or sneak in some holiday reading.
As the name suggests, this is a more tranquil and grown-up property, made up of bungalows arrayed across a hillside and nestled away within olive groves and lush vegetation, further away from the main resort facilities but also on the beach.
It’s still great for families, though, with one- and two-bedroom family suites – some of which come complete with private pools for that added touch of privacy – and five restaurants including the exclusive but laidback Club Lounge by its pool area, the farm-to-table Pines with its Greek dishes made using only fresh and mainly organic produce from within 100km of the resort, and the charming Ouzerie with its spanking-fresh seafood platters perfect for sharing around a convivial table with your loved ones. Sani Club’s spa by Anne Semonin includes Ayurvedic shirodhara and Mediterranean salt exfoliation among its blissful treatments.
Good to Know
Children under 12 stay free at both of these hotels. Note that this 1000-acre reserve with its protected wetlands is not only spacious but fully committed to sustainability and biodiversity and implements a raft of standard-setting green policies.
