Insider's Guide to Las Vegas

24 March 2020

No longer is a holiday in Las Vegas just for gamblers. The casinos flourish, of course, but the city is a well-rounded destination which offers everything from wildlife viewing to theme park thrills, from world class shows to spectacular night clubs. This is truly a destination for everyone and anyone who is just out to have fun.

Not to miss

Perhaps one of the most iconic sights across the whole of the USA, the Las Vegas Strip is a dazzling stretch of hotels and casinos. With many iconic films being shot here, including Scorsese’s ‘Casino’ and the more recent ‘The Hangover’, you’re sure to recognise some of your favourite movie scenes. Choose from a plethora of iconic hotels including The Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace and whenever you visit, be it Celine Dion or Bruno Mars, you can be sure that somebody will be putting on a spectacular show.

If you’re looking for entertainment, Las Vegas has something to offer everyone, particularly on the renowned Fremont Street. Take in an astounding light show, try your luck at one of the many casinos or try the amazing SlotZilla zip line and see downtown Las Vegas as you’ve never seen it before!

If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon is not to be missed. Soaring over the most stunning scenery, this is an unforgettable experience that’s guaranteed to take your breath away.

Eating out

Like many cities across the USA, Las Vegas isn’t short of restaurants and eateries with a wide range of offerings from Michelin-star dining to traditional American diners. The newly opened CHICA at The Venetian Las Vegas serves vibrant and flavoursome dishes inspired by the cuisine of Latin America. Also located in an iconic hotel, the Buffet at Bellagio brings together many dishes from around the world including Italian, Japanese and Chinese cuisines. The live-action cooking stations are not to be missed!

Live like a local

While in Las Vegas, make sure you experience the Downtown Container Park. This open-air shopping centre is full to the brim with boutique shops, unique restaurants and live entertainment. There’s something to suit everyone’s taste buds, from the slow smoked meats at Big Ern’s BBQ to Simply Pure, serving fresh vegan and raw foods. Stop for a cocktail at Oak and Ivy, a craft whisky cocktail bar serving rare beers and spirits. Indulge in some retail therapy with shops galore selling jewellery, clothing, toys and plenty more! Make sure you don’t miss The Dome; a 4K visual experience with nearly 14 million pixels to immerse you in animated imagery.

If you find yourself missing the comforts of home, head to the Crown & Anchor Pub. This British pub serves classic favourites such as Cornish pasties and fish and chips and you can even watch English Premier League games which are always shown live.
