Earlier this year, our family returned for our third visit to the incredible Shandrani Beachcomber in Mauritius. For us, it’s a place where relaxation begins the moment you arrive — and it’s no wonder we can’t wait to go back.

One of the absolute highlights for our children was the complimentary water ski sessions right off the resort beach. With expert instructors and the gentle, glassy waters of the Blue Bay Lagoon, every splash was met with shouts of delight and growing confidence. For families looking to try something new, this was an absolute game-changer — and knowing it was included in our stay made it even more special. Beyond water skiing, we made the most of Shandrani’s fantastic range of complimentary water sports: from kayaking through the crystal-clear lagoon and sailing mini catamarans, to stand-up paddle boarding and snorkelling among schools of vibrant fish. There was never a dull moment, and the resort’s caring team made sure everyone could safely join in, whatever their age and ability.
Tennis, Paddle and Pickle Ball
For a change of pace, we hit the courts — rackets and balls at the ready, and courts available at no extra cost (paddle is chargeable). Whether you’re a seasoned player or just keen for a family rally, the courts are a brilliant way to burn off a little energy before a dip in the pool or a lazy afternoon on the sun loungers.
Magical Evenings at Ponte Vecchio
Dining at Shandrani is a true pleasure, but one evening in particular stood out: our dinner at the Italian restaurant, Ponte Vecchio. Twinkling fairy lights, authentic Italian dishes, and the joyful sounds of a small band serenading each table made the experience truly unforgettable. While we lingered over our pastas and delicious desserts, the children listened in awe to the live musicians. It was one of those travel moments — full of warmth, music, and laughter — that we will cherish forever.
