It's Nice To Meet You

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta
Hello and welcome to my page - I am Rajni Veluthakkal and I am from India. Little did I anticipate that my move to Dubai in 2001 would ignite an enduring love for travel, one that would take me to numerous destinations over the span of 23 years. With a genuine passion for exploration cultivated over visits to 20 countries, I've seamlessly transitioned into the role of a guide for fellow wanderers.

The quote by Ibn Battuta beautifully encapsulates the essence of what transpires when we gather with family and friends post-travel. Conversations flow, experiences are shared, and photographs become windows into cherished moments. It's a ritual, a celebration of the enriching tales woven during our journeys.

My approach is simple: I love delving into destinations, finding cozy stays, local experiences, and figuring out the best travel routes. It's about sharing what I've learned through the years and helping you craft a memorable journey.

If you're on the lookout for someone to assist in planning your next escapade, I'm here for you. Let's chat about turning your travel dreams into reality without any fuss.

Discover the world with me as your travel counselor. With me you make memories and leave footprints.

A Surreal Winter Journey: Chasing the Northern Lights in Tromso, Norway

11 December 2023

Have you ever yearned for an experience that transcends the ordinary and borders on the surreal? If so, let me transport you to Tromso, Norway, in the enchanting month of December. As someone accustomed to the tropical and temperate zones, this journey was a plunge into the extraordinary, and the highlight on my bucket list? Witnessing the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis. After extensive research, Tromso emerged as the ultimate destination to chase the Northern Lights during December. The allure of polar nights, the ethereal dance of the aurora borealis, the rich culture of the Sami people, and the thrill of husky and reindeer sledding - not to forget the biting cold - collectively painted a picture of a mystical wonderland. Little did I know, no amount of online exploration could truly prepare me for the five enchanting days that awaited us. Our adventure began as we boarded our flight to Oslo, and then on to Tromso. The first thing that struck me was the bone-chilling cold and the relentless wind, with temperatures plunging below freezing. However, armed with good thermals and layers, we braved the elements. Tromso, a town blanketed in snow, presented a charming spectacle. Massive trucks diligently cleared mounds of snow, while heated pavements on the main street melted away any icy obstacles, ensuring safe passage for pedestrians. What made our adventure truly exceptional, though, was the privilege of witnessing the Northern Lights on not one but three different occasions. The first night, we joined a group on a bus that transported us to the outskirts of town. Under the guidance of an expert, we eagerly awaited the spectacle. Soon, faint greenish and grey waves, reminiscent of smoke, began to dance across the night sky, signaling the arrival of the Aurora Borealis. The true colors revealed itself when captured through our cameras—a sight both mesmerizing and surreal. Our second encounter with the Northern Lights was on a cruise, a thrilling experience that had us chasing the elusive lights across the darkened waters. Unbelievably, our final encounter was in the heart of the town itself, catching us off guard as we strolled back to our lodgings. Days in Tromso were cloaked in darkness, yet every house sparkled with festive lights, setting the stage for Christmas. The town, resembling scenes from a Grimm's fairy tale, exuded a magical charm. Amidst the quiet beauty, the Northern Lights served as a testament to the immense wonders of the natural world. It left me contemplating how much of this beauty remains unseen and acknowledging the privilege we hold in being able to traverse the globe and witness such breathtaking phenomena. Our December escapade to Tromso was nothing short of magical, a sensory feast that exceeded all expectations. It was a rendezvous with nature's grandeur, and an affirmation of the beauty that awaits those willing to venture beyond the familiar.
