Winter in North Iceland

Day 1 - Arrival & Northern Lights

Transfer (shared) from AEY airport to your hotel in Akureyri for check-in. In the evening enjoy a Northern Lights Hunt Northern lights hunting in the north. Join our small group and escape the light pollution of the city and go with us outside Akureyri to see the amazing Northern
lights.

Day 2 - Whale Watching

In the morning you will head to the harbour for your Whale Watching Cruise. Here is your chance to see the incredible Eyjafjord Humpbacks in their natural habitat. The warmth of the summer sun brings vibrant life and plentitude of food to the fjord and following it, in a feeding frenzy, come the larger-than-life Humpbacks. Our specially trained whale-watching guides are experts at spotting them and telling you all about their behaviour, any questions you have, we promise you an answer.

Day 3 - Lake Myvatn & Nature Baths

First, we drive along the coast of Eyjafjordur, one of the longest fjords in Iceland. We begin by stopping at Goðafoss waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, on our way to Lake Mývatn, the lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents. We take a look at Grjótagjá cave and a stop at the hot spring area at Hverarönd in Námaskarð and in the Nature baths where you get the chance to relax in the steam baths and bathe in the geothermal water, you can also take a massage in the baths. On the way back we come to the unique lava formations of Dimmuborgir which are among the most popular tourist attractions in the Lake Myvatn area, we stop also in Skútustaðagígar (pseudo craters area).

Day 4 - Departure

Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to Iceland. Transfer (shared) from your hotel to the airport.
