The Sri Lankan East Escape

Sri Lanka, a tropical paradise nestled in the Indian Ocean, is a land of incredible diversity and enchanting beauty. Day 1: Arrival - Colombo
On arrival in Sri Lanka, you will then be escorted to the vehicle park
for your transfer to Colombo. On arrival in Colombo check into your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Colombo
After breakfast do a city tour in Colombo including a visit to Galle Face Green, Gangarama Temple, the harbour and the fort areas of Colombo and the arcade Independence Square located just a few minutes away from the old Parliament building.

Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, is a major port near the mouth of the Kelani Ganga River. It owes its importance largely to its great breakwaters, which give shelter to a large, artificially created harbour. Beira Lake, administratively part of the Port of Colombo, relates to the harbour by a canal and locks. Colombo handles most of the foreign trade of Sri Lanka and is an important fuelling station.

Day 3: Colombo - Kandy
After breakfast proceed to Kandy. On arrival, sightseeing of the Kandy town and Lake Kandy, at an altitude of 500m is the cultural centre of Sri Lanka and was the capital of the last Singhalese kingdom.
It is a particularly relaxed hill station, once captured by the British. It is dominated by its lake and the nearby Temple of the Tooth which houses Sri Lanka's most sacred relic. Optional – Cultural Dance Show in Kandy.

Traditional Kandyan dances include the cobra dance, mask dance, and the Ginisila, showing power over fire. The entire frenetic and colourful spectacle climaxes with the amazing fire-walking act.

In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy (Pooja will commence at 18.30hrs) Kandy, at an altitude of 500m is the cultural centre of Sri Lanka and was the capital of the last Singhalese kingdom.

Day 4: Kandy
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Visit Ramboda Waterfall.
Ramboda Ella is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and
located by the Pussellawa, the A5 highway ( Pussellawa-Nuwara Eliya road). If you are coming from Peradeniya, when you just pass the Ramboda Tunnel, you will come across a bridge. The waterfall is located by it. Ramboda Falls consists of three sections. You will
get a good view of the middle section of the A5 highway, just above the bridge. This is very small in size compared to other parts. You can get a far view of the top part from the main road, but not the complete view of the fall. You need to climb up to see the top part of the Ramboda Falls and there is a pathway just before the bridge. You may find the climbing a bit difficult, but you will be compensated with the great view of the top fall and the surroundings.

Visit Tea Factory and return to Kandy

Day 5: Kandy - Habarana
After breakfast proceed to Habarana. En route visit Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla is a town built around a vast isolated rock mass
500 ft and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was here that King Valagambahu took refuge in the 1st century B.C. The view from the top of this rock is breathtaking 350 ft. above are a series of five caves which were later turned into a magnificent rock temple by King Valagambahu. In the first cave is a recumbent image of the Buddha 47 ft, long, cut out from the rock. There are images of deities associated
with Buddhism. The frescoes on the walls and ceiling could be dated to the 15th - 18th centuries. In the second cave, the finest and the largest, are not less than 150 life-size statues of gods. There are numerous images of the Buddha as well. The ceiling too is covered with frescoes which depict great events in the life of the Buddha, and
landmarks in the history of the Sinhala People.

Day 6: Habarana
Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Considered the 8th wonder of the world, Sigiriya was built in 5 AD by patricide King Kasyappa and boasts the world-famous frescoes of women carved on sheer rock faces. Climb the rock fortress and marvel at the feats of architecture achieved in the moats, the lion's paw and finally at the summit of the rock, where the palace was situated. King Kasyappa had 500 handmaidens living in this palace.


Hiriwaduna Village Tour. Travel through paddy fields to a lake, which you will cross by a traditional ‘Oruwa’ (boat). The lake is incredibly beautiful when water levels are high and dotted with lotus. As you glide across, you may be lucky to see a swooping eagle or water monitors (lizards) swimming across or lazing across a branch. Hop off the boat and walk to a farmhouse for a refreshing thambili (king coconut) break. You will be given a guided tour of the farm, and farm life before sitting down to a traditional lunch prepared by the farmer’s family, served on lotus leaves.

Day 7: Habarana
Spend the day with the Village family at the same time you can plant a tree as well. And also visit a local school in that area with the family members & donate some accessories to the children. In the evening visit the local temple in that area.

Day 8: Habarana - Trincomalee
After breakfast proceed to Trincomalee Optional - Visit Kanniya Hot Water Springs. The Kanniya Hot Springs is a site with hot wells located
in Trincomalee. There are seven wells in a square shape. Wells are only 3–4 feet deep and you can see the bottom. The temperature is considerably high but varies slightly from one spring to another. Wells run out of water when 10-15 buckets of water are taken out. Optional – Trinco sightseeing including Fort Frederick and
Koneswaram Hindu Temple. Fort Fredrick also known as Trincomalee Fort or Fort of Triquillimale, is a fort built by the Portuguese at Trincomalee, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, completed in 1624 CE, built on Swami Rock-Konamamalai from the debris of the world-famous ancient Hindu Koneswaram temple (Temple of a Thousand Pillars). The temple was destroyed by the Portuguese colonial Constantino de Sá de Noronha under Phillip III, occupier of the Jaffna kingdom and Malabar country on the island. On the Konamalai cape was also built a new
village of Portuguese and Tamil people, 50 Portuguese soldiers and inside the fort, a church named after "Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe". The Fort of Triquillimale was dismantled and rebuilt by the Dutch in 1665 and renamed Fort Fredrick.

Day 9 - 12: Trincomalee
At leisure on the beaches of Trincomalee. Visit Pigeon Island - Pigeon Island National Park is one of the two marine national parks of Sri Lanka. The national park is situated 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli,
a coastal town in Eastern Province, encompassing a total area of 471.429 hectares. The island's name derives from the rock pigeon which has colonized it. The national park contains some of the best-remaining coral reefs of Sri Lanka. Pigeon Island was designated as a
sanctuary in 1963. In 2003 it was redesignated as a national park. This national park is the 17th in Sri Lanka.

Day 12: Trincomalee - Negombo
After breakfast proceed to Negombo
Visit Negombo fishing village before checking into the hotel. The Negombo Fishing Village also known as the Lellama by the locals is located across the lagoon bridge, near the Old Dutch Gate. The large open-air fish market is the second largest in the country. It gives you an unpretentious insight into the local fisher community. The market is loud, and vibrant and smells like fish! You will be able to witness the fishermen in hundreds of boats bringing in their day's catch. See how

Day 13: Negombo - BIA
