New Spanish Hotels

All opened in the past year or are due to open in the coming months, the following properties are amazing options for a holiday in Spain, whether as a couple, with kids, with friends or even solo. We’ve taken a look at what each of them offers

Club Med Magna Marbella

This year sees the opening of the long-awaited Club Med Magna Marbella at the foot of the Sierra Blanca mountains in southern Spain. Club Med is renowned all over the world for its all-inclusive resorts that embrace a vast array of sports and activities for all ages and tastes, along with great childcare.

Indeed, Magna Marbella is a fabulous spot for families, with a beach-club-themed lagoon pool, a water park, family activities and clubs covering ages 0–17 years. But this is also the place for some serious relaxation, whether in the sleek Cinq Mondes spa with its sauna, hammam and tailored treatments, or at the adult-only Zen Zone pool and juice bar

Six Senses Ibiza

In a tranquil location in Xarraca Bay on the north coast, away from the party hordes, this groundbreaking property opened in 2021 as part of the iconic group famed for its wellness offerings. These include daily sessions by yogic masters, sunset sound healing sessions, cliff jumping (great for acing your fears!) and even guided-meditation snorkelling.

Accommodation includes Cave Suites built into the cliffside, with water’s-edge terraces, and residences with private pools, built and decorated using sustainable natural materials. The first BREEAM-certified resort in the Balearics, Six Senses also grows its own organic herbs, fruits and vegetables at its farm and runs a plastic-free water plant

ME Barcelona

This is an irresistible addition to Meliá’s existing hotels in one of the most exciting and constantly evolving cities in the world. Indeed, this home-grown Spanish brand is ideal for really getting under the skin of the compelling Catalan capital, boasting a plum location on the upscale Passeig de Gràcia, a few steps from La Rambla, and hosting an array of cultural happenings.

ME Barcelona also has a holistic spa with yoga sessions out on the terrace, two sustainable Mediterranean restaurants using tomatoes and other fresh organic produce from its urban gardens, and a rooftop bar with heavenly views of the Sagrada Familia and Plaça Catalunya, plus a cosy fireplace for winter.

El Vicenç de la Mar, Mallorca

Opened since Spring 2022, this taste-making boutique property joins its sister hotel El Llorenç Parc de la Mar in Palma as the second of the prestigious Mallorca Ç Collection. A place to immerse yourself in nature, it’s set on a crystal-clear cove and has just 35 rooms and suites, some with a private hot tub or private swimming pool.

There’s also a stunning roof terrace with a pool, cocktail bar and restaurant with views to the UNESCO-listed Sierra Tramuntana Mountains. Food and drink at El Vicenç de la Mar come courtesy of Santi Taura, holder of a Michelin star, and embraces both local and global offerings.

The Standard, Ibiza

A fresh concept for The White Isle, The Standard brings the group’s playful spirit to the heart of Ibiza Town, just steps from the waterfront, where its clean white building conceals just 53 rooms and suites and one freestanding private residence.

The rooftop pool and restaurant are the high points, with pinch-me views of the city’s iconic castle and starlit dining, but there’s also a street-level restaurant luring in locals and visitors alike with its farm-to-table cuisine and innovative cocktails.

Secrets Bahía Real Resort & Spa, Fuerteventura

Not strictly a new opening but following its refurbishment last year, we couldn't rightly leave it off our list.

In an idyllic natural setting, the resort opens out to the Atlantic Ocean, offering adults a hide-away experience to enjoy the most authentic of pleasures.
