Self-Drive the South Coast

If you're planning a self-drive adventure along Iceland's South Coast, you're in for a treat. Whether you're interested in visiting iconic landmarks like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, exploring the otherworldly landscapes of Reynisfjara beach, or venturing further east to witness the breathtaking Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, the South Coast of Iceland promises unforgettable experiences.


Day 1 - Arrival, Blue Lagoon and Reykjavík

Pick up your rental car at KEF airport and depart for Reykjavík. En route to Reykjavík stop at the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is considered one of the New Wonders of the World. Enjoy the relaxation in the geothermal
waters. From Blue Lagoon drive to Reykjavik for a free day to explore the city.

Day 2 - Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is one of Iceland’s top excursions, where you get to see 3 of Iceland’s most beautiful natural wonders. Visit Thingvellir National Park, where the world’s first parliament, Althingi, was located. See the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall, and the infamous Geysir hot spring, which no longer erupts but Geysir’s little brother Strokkur erupts every 10-15 minutes.

Day 3 - South Coast

Iceland’s South Coast is considered one of the most beautiful parts of the country. On your route to your next accommodation in Vík, enjoy the breath-taking scenery filled with waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches.

Day 4 - Glacier Lagoon

From Vík, continue your journey on Iceland’s Route 1 and head to the magnificent Vatnajökull Glacier area. Upon arriving at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon enjoy the breathtaking sight of the floating icebergs. After, be
sure to visit Diamond Beach just across the road.

Day 5 & 6 - Vatnajökull / Skaftafell National Parks

Enjoy today to explore more of the area. We can highly recommend visiting Skaftafell National Park. At the information centre, you can get assistance and guidance for the various hiking routes available in the area. We highly recommend the easy hike to the magnificent Svartifoss Waterfall. 

Heading back in the direction of Reykjavik, you can visit parts of the South that you may have missed on day 3, including some of the many activities we have on offer.

Day 7 - Reykjavík  

From Hella return to Reykjavik and enjoy the day free at your leisure exploring the city.

Day 8 - Departure        

Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to Iceland. Drive to Keflavík airport and return your car
