The Friendliest Castle in Ireland

Lisa Foley on 07 August 2018
Being Irish, it’s not often I take the time to travel around Ireland and experience some of our amazing landscape and hotels. I met Lough Eske Castle at a luxury travel conference in Cannes at the end of 2017.

From the moment I heard their presentation, I was hooked and knew I had to make time to visit them. Roll on summer 2018 and I’m spending a night in Donegal at the stunning Lough Eske Castle.

From the moment you drive up to the castle, you are impressed. The staff are SO welcoming and are full off chat whether you are just off a tour bus, a long drive or have come for a nosey.

The rooms are a very generous size and a mixture of contemporary with the historic.

If you can, splash out on a suite in the original castle – you won’t regret it. Four poster beds and stunning views of the manicured lawns, you can’t go wrong.

Dine at Cedar’s Grill (make sure you book in advance) to enjoy the best of local produce and treat yourself to a massage or facial.

In summer, take a drive along the Wild Atlantic Way and visit some of Ireland’s finest beaches and lush green scenery. In winter, snuggle up by the log fires in Lough Eske and enjoy a good book and a hot toddy.
