A stay at a COMO hotel or resort is more than just a holiday, it opens up a world of inspiring opportunities. COMO strive to deliver experiences that are individual to you and the country you are visiting, from city hotspots to off-beat destinations with memorable cultures. Take a look at our favourite experiences to be had with COMO Hotels and Resorts.
Travel along the ancient and tranquil Tjampuhan Ridge to Tjampuhan Temple where locals make an offering to Bali’s gods. The walk ends at the foot of the Tjampuhan Bridge, a sacred junction in the River Oos. Along the way stop at art galleries and terraced rice paddies, where you can take in the emerald views of palm, coconut and rustling alang-alang which line the ridge. Private tours are available for couples and this easy walk takes up to 3 hours if completed on foot. However there is the option to travel some of the trail by car which brings the duration down to around one and a half hours.
COMO offer a number of different surfing options ranging from beginner to experienced, and you’ll be able to surf secluded breaks and even head off on a ‘surfari’ in search of world-famous breaks. Find the best tides and line up points and you can add food options to your surf trip too. Board hire is available, and you’ll be provided with transport, a surf instructor, rash guard, booties and zinc.
Take part in a traditional Balinese purification ceremony at the historic Tirta Empul temple in north-east Ubud. Your guide will take you through every step of the Hindu purification ceremony in this 1000-year-old temple including the making and presentation of offerings, the saying of traditional prayers, dressing in temple attire and partaking in the holy water rituals. Private tours are available for this 4-hour experience and you’ll be provided with traditional temple attire to wear.
Float down the Ayung River, through Bali’s stunning natural scenery and keep an eye out for the local wildlife. The rapids provide an exhilarating thrill with experienced river guides. The route passes by COMO Uma Ubud’s sister property, COMO Shambhala Estate. This wonderful experience lasts around three hours with two of these spent in the water, and transfer, safety equipment, towels and lunch are included. You can even request a private experience for an extra special trip.
COMO Uma Ubud immerses you in the culture of Bali and offers luxury amenities from food to spa to beautiful accommodation. Nestled among paddy fields and hills, all 46 rooms and suites exude the charm of a traditional Indonesian village. The feel is quietly contemporary, from bedrooms to landscaped courtyards to infinity-edged plunge pools. The result is a fresh, original spirit that feels sleek even as it recognises Uma Ubud’s culture. There’s plenty of dining options, focusing on light, clean and fresh cuisine using locally-sourced produce and drawing inspiration from Bali and its neighbouring countries. Uma Ubud has the atmosphere of a rural hillside home, and you’ll feel immersed in a blend of tradition and luxury during your stay.
