Ikos Andalusia, Spain
It's opening in April 2021, so you’ll be among the first to discover this Spanish outpost of the award-winning group famous for its super-stylish resorts in Greece – two of which won first and second place in the TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2020 for the Top 25 All-Inclusive Resorts in the World. Despite the incredible all-inclusive offerings for which these resorts are so popular, they also positively encourage you to get out and about together discovering their gorgeous surrounding regions.
Activities Together and Time For Yourself
With mountain-top Ronda with its compelling Moorish Old Town and 18th-century bullring just an hour’s drive from Ikos Andalusia, and the iconic white houses of the pine-strewn Sierra de Mijas hills within easy reach too, you’d be mad not to take up the resort’s full day’s loan of a MINI that comes complimentary with each booking.
And that’s not all. As well as getting free tickets to fascinating local museums and a complimentary round of golf on one of the best courses on the Costa del Sol, you can relish family feasts of authentic local cuisine in hand-picked restaurants outside the resort at no extra cost, courtesy of the Ikos’ fabulous Dine-out Programme.
But it’s still hard to tear yourself away from the resort, where a vast array of land sports – including beach volleyball, mountain-biking, tennis, yoga, Pilates and TRX – and non-motorised water sports means there’s plenty of scope to have fun together, keeping fit, polishing your skills or discovering a new favourite activity to take back home.
A beach childcare service (for ages four years and up) and kids’ and teen clubs covering ages 4–17 years also give parents the opportunity for some precious me or us time, whether by one of the pools or on the beach (where there are adult-only quiet areas), or in the sleek spa with its indoor heated pool and thermal suite. Here, treatments based on essential oils and the likes of spirulina micro-algae will ease all your stresses and leave you feeling brand-new and ready to take on the world again.
The Pleasures of the Table
While discovering regional food outside the resort – perhaps along one of the pretty alleys of the charming whitewashed old town of seaside Estepona – will be a treasured holiday memory, the culinary offerings at Ikos Andalusia are no less special. Think contemporary Greek, Italian and Provençal cuisine by Michelin-starred chefs, along with Spanish, Asian and other dishes that are equally enticing. The laidback Beach Club, open from breakfast ’til late in the evening, really comes into its own at sunset, when resident DJs set the mood. There’s also beach and pool service, 24-hour room service and in-room bars replenished with branded spirits and other drinks daily, all included in your Infinite Lifestyle package.
As you’d expect, the elegant, light-flooded contemporary rooms here come in all kinds of flexible configurations that include something to suit everyone, from couples to large families in suites sleeping up to six. Some of them even come complete with their own private pools to give you the space and privacy to really make the most of your time together.
