If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the raw and undiluted beauty of Borneo, then don’t miss this incredible offer. Staying onboard a traditional wooden river boat, this tour offers the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the incredible Bornean orangutan!

Upon arrival into Borneo, you’ll be met by your local guide and whisked away to the nearby port of Kumai, where you’ll board your traditional river boat. Journey along the Sekonyer River into the Tanjung Puting National Park, home to primates, leopards, lizards and over 600 species of birds. Tanjung Puting is also notable for both its ecological and biological diversity, as well as its orangutan conservation. Waking up early the next morning, head up stream and travel along a tributary known locally as ‘Crocodile River’. Enjoying yet more superb scenery and a fresh lunch prepared by the crew, you’ll arrive at Camp Leakey - a renowned orangutan research and rehabilitation centre located in the heart of Tanjung Puting National Park. There’ll be time to look around the centre and meet some of the local rangers, as well as a chance to witness the daily afternoon feeding. If you like, you can also take the optional short trek into the jungle that surrounds the camp prior to heading back to your boat.

The next day, sail through dense jungle on your way to the orangutan feeding station at Pondok Tanggui. Accompanied by your guide and a local park ranger, hike along small tracks deep into the jungle where the feeding area is located. There’ll be ample time to witness these wonderful apes from close quarters, before returning to the dock to continue your expedition to the Pesalat Reforestation Camp. Whilst you’re here, why not choose your own tree, plant it and name it? A delicious lunch will be served on the boat and now is an excellent time to spot Proboscis monkeys high in the trees above you. Returning to Kumai on the fourth day, you’re sure to have memories to treasure of a truly unforgettable Bornean adventure!
